Kippy's clients say:I was surprised by my ability to openly creatively express. Kippy uses her directing skills with vision as she offers many different vehicles for dramatic expression. Kippy rekindled the tension of a story of severe harassment (violence) in our community…I found myself completely drawn in my role of a bystander, feeling both helpless and furious. I now have a greater appreciation of the experience of victims of street violence. An amazing experience that opened up my healing opportunities and a desire to explore more dramatic arts." I have watched the youth who work with Kippy become more confident individuals who then move towards greater stances of leadership in their lives. Expressive Therapy ServicesIndividual, Couple, and Family TherapyKippy sees individuals (children to elderly) and families. Additionally, she leads groups for children, teens, adults, and couples. Workshops and GroupsKippy offers workshops on a wide range of topics throughout the year on both personal and social issues. She offers expressive arts therapy groups, and drama therapy groups that primarily use psychodrama. Psychodrama is a specific form of drama therapy known for its grounded and effective techniques that make change powerful and fast. These groups are limited to 6 individuals. AstroDramasCombining astrology and drama, Kippy leads AstroDramas for solstices and equinox’s, significant events, birthday parties, astrological education, and as explorations of people’s natal charts, transits, and progressions. She also organizes large astrologically-based community rituals. For personal charts, people may invite their loved ones to help them explore the astrological insights of their charts or to help them grow through challenging times. Kippy is always interested in adding to her network of people with astrological or theatre backgrounds who volunteer to assist others by taking roles in AstroDramas. Diversity DramaDiversity Drama workshops and groups use improvisational drama to explore, express, and celebrate the uniqueness of social identities. Diversity Drama offers a fresh approach to exploring such issues as racism, ableism, classism, homophobia/heterosexism, and other social oppressions of "differentness." Kippy has facilitated Diversity Drama with a variety of populations including Native Alaskans, people with mental illness, and GLBT youth. Participants may choose to develop pieces for public presentation. Performances create audience-participatory dialogues, providing opportunities for people to communicate across their differences. Kippy engages the audience through questions and informal polling, soliciting audience input for skit topics and endings, and inviting audience members to join the skits. Kippy founded and directed The Speak-OUT Teen Theatre Troupe which used improvisational drama to promote diversity and transform homophobia. The troupe performed for over 7,500 people throughout New England. Kippy also trains teens to lead Diversity Drama workshops in their communities.
